WHO WE ARE
Global Energy Investors, LLC (GEI) is a Project Equity Firm investing in renewable energy power generation projects. Founded in 2009, we focus primarily on wind and solar infrastructure projects that utilize proven technology to generate and sell electrical power to Utilities and other commercial users.
WHAT WE DO
“Project Equity” refers to equity investments in projects rather than investments in specific technologies and/or companies. Project Equity fund assets are used to provide development and permanent financing to energy production infrastructure projects.
WHY RENEWABLES?
The renewable energy sector includes energy resources and related infrastructure used in connection with fuel production and electric power generation. Such resources are considered “renewable” because they are naturally occurring and replenishing. Examples of renewable energy resources and technologies include wind, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, biofuels, biomass, geothermal, and hydroelectric. Recent macroeconomic trends, such as volatility in fossil fuel pricing, concerns about fossil fuel resource limitations, technological innovation in the renewable arena, and supportive government policies and regulations have caused renewable energy projects and technologies to become the fastest growing segment of the energy sector.
WHY GEI?
GEI offers investors an opportunity to gain exposure to this expanding field by becoming equity partners in funds that invest in renewable energy projects. We have chosen the project finance model because it reflects our preference for investing in tangible, operating infrastructure assets that generate reliable cash flows. Unlike Hedge Funds, we are not trying to arbitrage an ephemeral trading inefficiency. Unlike Private Equity Funds, we are not taking large risks in new technologies or highly leveraged company acquisitions in the hopes of achieving high returns. Rather, we seek to capture real, pre-determinable cash flows from reliable energy-generating projects run by capable management teams, and then pass those cash flows through to our equity partners in the form of attractive fund returns.
